Should the adoptive child info section be populating with blank information? I keep getting prompted to add information to a form but we did not adopt a child.

The adoption expenses form is form 8839. If you did not adopt a child, you'll need to delete form 8839 from your tax return.

 

• In TurboTax, open your return
• In the left-hand column, locate Tax Tools, click on the drop-down arrow then click on Tools
• On the Tools Center page, click on Delete a form
• A list of forms will appear. Locate the Form 8839 and click Delete next to it.
• On the next screen, click Delete Form

I don't actually have Form 8839 available for me to delete 😕 

I am attaching a post from KatherineC to remove the adoption credit from your tax return, please follow the steps below:

• Log into your return and continue it.
• Click on Federal in the left column
• Click on Deductions & Credits
• Under You and Your Family, click the button beside Adoption Credit
• You will see "Here's your adoptive child info"
• Click the trash can icon
• You will be asked to confirm you want to delete the credit
• Click Done
