Should I take the standard deduction rather than itemize if I am over 65, and have no mortgage

Yes, unless you have significant medical bills or charity donations, you are better to file using the increased standard deduction for taxpayers over 65. 

The standard deduction for a single taxpayer over 65 is $13,600 in 2018.
