Should I check "The event qualifies as a 2016 disaster area" if it happened in 2017? There is no choice for 2017 disaster area except specific hurricanes. Thanks!

We are in a declared disaster area. Just not the ones on the list.

Sorry, that's not a qualifying disaster for the special treatment allowed under the Disaster Tax Relief and Airport and Airway Extension Act of 2017. That's why it's not listed in the program.

which federal disaster area were you in?

It is "New York Flooding (DR-4348)"  Lake Ontario Shoreline flooding caused by changes to regulation of water level by the government. <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://www.fema.gov/disaster/4348">https://www.fema.gov/disaster/4348</a>. Thanks!
