Seterus is not the name of my mortgage lender, Shellpoint bought this mortgage several years ago, but I see no where to change that?

The cleanest/most simple way to get the correct information in is to "Delete" the non-applicable Form 1098 and "Add a new 1098" with the correct information for tax year 2020.

  • Select the "Deductions & Credits" tab
  • Select the "Mortgage" topic
  • Delete the old Form 1098
  • Click "Add a new Form 1098"

You should  receive a 1098 from your mortgage lender. It will have the correct lender name listed.  Just add the correct name when prompted in TurboTax on your current filing.

I you do not receive a 1098 from your lender I would contact them as ask that it be provided.

This should not be an issue for past returns if you added the correct lender name from the 1098 in previous years.

Form 1098Mortgage Interest Statement, is an Internal Revenue Service (IRSform that's used to report the amount of interest and related expenses paid on a mortgage during the tax year by an individual or a sole proprietor when the amount totals $600 or more.

Hi, thanks for you reply, however, that wasnt my question.  I have my 1098 from my lender, what I was asking was, where in Turbo Tax does it give me the option to change the name, as it brought up an OLD lender name from several years ago.  I dont see a place to edit this name in the software.
