Program keeps saying "have a financial account in a foreign country" I do not. I go back and check NO, but it will not correctly save. How do I fix this?

The program may have created a Form 8938. You can remove it.  Here are the steps:

In TurboTax online,

1.  Sign into your account, select Pick up where you left off

2.  From the left menu, select Tax Tools, click on the drop down arrow

3.  Select Tools

4.  Under Other helpful links, choose Delete a form

5.  Select Delete next to the Form 8938 and Continue with My Return

If you live in the US and meet one of the following criteria, you would need to file a Form 8938.

  • Unmarried individual (or married filing separately): Total value of assets was more than $50,000 on the last day of the tax year, or more than $75,000 at any time during the year.
  • Married individual filing jointly: Total value of assets was more than $100,000 on the last day of the tax year, or more than $150,000 at any time during the year.

I would also suggest you to go through the "foreign account" section to tell the program you do not have any foreign account.

In TurboTax online,

  • Sign in to your TurboTax account and select Pick up where you left off
  • At the right upper corner, in the search box, type in "foreign assets" and Enter
  • Select Jump to foreign assets
  • Follow the prompts to tell the program you do not have foreign accounts.
