On Kansas return, its asks to enter my appraised property value from form K-40SVR (which I don't have because it does not apply to me) and it won't allow being left blank

It won't let me go back and file by mail either. It won't let me file until I enter a number in the box. Do I just put 0?

If you did not own property and are not claiming the credits.  Enter $0 into the property appraisal value.

Delete Form K-40PT, Property Tax Relief Claim for Low Income Seniors if this does not apply to you.

  1. Tap Tax Tools in the left column
  2. Tap Tools
  3. Select  Delete a Form in Tools Center
  4. Scroll down to Form K-40PT
  5. Click Continue With My Return in the lower right when you are finished

Hello, this is all I have. What all do I need to delete?

The K-40SVR Form is for the Senior or Disabled Veteran property tax refund claim.  This allows a property tax refund for senior citizens or disabled veterans, which is why you are asked for your property appraisal.  If this does not apply to you, you will want to select delete beside Form K-40SVR.

Okay so I deleted it .....but the question isn't going away, I'm still being asked this question even though it doesn't apply..Is there any other additional form I need to delete?

You may have answered a question stating you owned your home in 2022.  If using TurboTax Online, follow these steps:

  1. Click Your State Returns on the left-side panel
  2. Click Edit beside Kansas
  3. Scroll down to Other situations and click Edit
  4. Click revisit Property Tax Relief Claim for Seniors and Disabled Veterans
  5. Under Own Your Home?  Click No; I didn't own my home (if you did not own your home)

If you own your home, you can enter your home's property value from your county property tax assessment.

I will delete the form, go back, answer no, try to file, the question re-appears and so does the form. Is there another form associated with it that's causing it to re-populate?

If you did not own property and are not claiming the credits.  Enter $0 into the property appraisal value.

Britney was incorrect in telling you this. After 2 hours of having this issue and multiple attempts with multiple "Experts," I finally got the answer that the "IRS is having issues, Turbotax is working on it and we cannot file our taxes and Kansas is not accepting returns right now."

Hi,

So I have been having this same issue with getting the error message. I checked several times over that I entered "I don't own my own home". I see it says that there is a product update that will be released on 02/09/2023. I suppose we have to wait until then to refile?

Enter $0 for now if this question does not apply to you.

There’s currently an issue where TurboTax is showing an error related to Form K-40SVR (Appraised Property Value). TurboTax is requiring unqualified taxpayers to complete the K-40SVR.

TurboTax is working on a fix. As a workaround, your enter a zero for the appraised value when you see the error.

This will not impact the accuracy of your return. No credit is being calculated and the form is not part of the return.

Same here in Kansas.  Problem with k-40svr property taxes.

I followed all the steps given, also a Kansas resident, and was not given the option to enter $0 anywhere on the K-40SVR. It told me my income was too high to qualify; yet I still got the initial rejection which is confusing to me. I just refiled my state the way it was and am hoping something was fixed on TurboTax’s end.

I have the same problem. There is a question in the step by step that asks if you own a home. Even if you answer No, it doesn't seem to save that information. When you delete the form, it repopulates the form because the question is unanswered.

This will require a fix by turbo tax.

The appraised property value input for K-40SVR is listed as corrected.  You should be able to proceed with your return without listing an appraised property value.
