On itsdeductible, the program does not seem to be able to retrieve a charity being used for the first time this year. What is the procedure now?

An example is Monterey Bay Aquarium, 886 Cannery Row, Monterey CA 93940.  It is my program list of charities but I cannot retrieve it to enter 2016 donations.

The new ItsDeductible version is clumsy and also has some bugs.  You'd likely feel more comfortable going back to the classic version.  I'll tell you how to to that lower in this post, if you choose to do so.

In the new version, here's how to get to your list of charities to add donations to it for the first time this year:

  • In the new version, what you do is click  Manage Donations on the first screen.
  • On the next screen, scroll way down and choose ADD ITEMS.
  • Then you select the items and then click SUBMIT.
  • There will be a popup window that's titled "Edit Items for my Donation".
  • On the line for Charity Name, there is dropdown menu with your list of charities.    To get the menu to drop down, click the tiny arrow at the very right end of that line.   Actually, you may be able to click anywhere on that line to get the dropdown menu.
  • Then select your charity from the list of previously-entered charities.
  • Finish the rest of that form.  If there is no SAVE button in the lower right corner, then click on a blank area of the screen and hopefully the SAVE button will appear.

That being said, if you wish to go  back to the classic version, here's how:

  • Use this link:
  • The page will show that you are logged out. At the top of the page is a small sign-in button (see screen image below).
  • Click sign-in and use your ItsDeductible login credentials to get access to the classic version of your account.
  • You can bookmark that page to use each time.

...Using the "Classic" version, all your prior Charities used for 2015 will show up without doing anything special...you really need to use the "Classic" version all of the time.

BUT
for the "New" version, your prior charities from 2015 won't show up on the 2016 donations list until you visit the "Manage Charities"  once before you start to deal with your 2016 donations (just under the "Manage Donations" button).

This is just one more software foul-up that indicatives you should never be using the new version of ItsDeductible.
