my personal vehicle (#1) for the first 4 mo. In april I purchased a vehicle (#2) just for buisness. Can I deduct the buisness milage expenses for #1 AND the sect 179 ded for #2?

Yes, you can deduct Standard Mileage for Business Vehicle 1.  Remember that Standard Mileage includes about .25/mi. as depreciation.  Later when you sell or trade the vehicle, you may have to recapture part of the depreciation claimed.

 

Add the New Vehicle 2 as a Business Asset.  You will be presented with several options for claiming the Vehicle Expense in the first year of using it for Business, including 179 Deduction.  Again, when you stop using the vehicle, you may have to repay part of the 179 deduction you claimed.
