My HSA did not receive contributions in 2024 and I did not have an HDHP last year. TurboTax keeps insisting that I indicate whether I had a self or family HDHP last year.

I took distributions from my HSA in 2024 and have an excess contribution carryover from 2023.

Since you told TurboTax in the HSA interview that you had NONE for HDHP coverage in 2024, all the numbers on the 8889 will be correct,

So you can answer Self or Family to this question in the Review to get around it.

TurboTax is just confused on why someone who has an HSA did not indicate which type of HDHP coverage they had. So this will get you around this issue.
