My boyfriend got a VA loan for our home, so I'm not on the mortgage. We file taxes separately, and he claimed the home. Can I skip the school tax credit part on my taxes?

Since my boyfriend and I are not married, when he took a VA loan to buy our home, only his name was allowed to be on the mortgage. So legally, I look like a renter, while he is the homeowner. He has already filed his taxes, and he claimed the home, taxes and school property tax credit. Now that I'm filing, I've gotten to the School Property Tax Credit part, where it's asking for my rent payments. Can I skip this part? Or do I have to enter something, so no red flags are raised?

Yes, you can skip the portion to enter rent payments.

It is not uncommon for someone to live without being either the homeowner or the renter.
