Less Common Income (1099-a, 1099-c)

There was No entry for the above forms, yet it is auto-populating with the dollar amount entered for a 1099-R.

Because there was No entry, the screen will not allow and edit.  Is this a software error?

Did you auto-import a 1099-R? It sounds like an error in the import process.

If you did not intend to enter a 1099-A or 1099-C, then please do the following:

*** Desktop***

1. go to View (at the top), choose Forms, and select the desired form (1099-A and 1099-C). Note the Delete Form button at the bottom of the screen.

*** Online ***

1. go to Tax Tools (on the left), and navigate to Tools->Delete a form

2. delete form(s) 1099-A (if one) and 1099-C (if one)

Having done that, did you intend to enter a 1099-R? If so, you should enter it now, but manually, not through the import process.

Although the response was detailed, it did not resolve the problem.  After editing/deleting the imported 1099-R, it was re-entered manually.

Unfortunately, under the "Less Common Income" - Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C is still populated with the same dollar amount. I did notice the "circle"  of "I received a 1099-C for the cancellation of debt on my main home (foreclosure or short sale)" is automatic highlighted and it cannot be unhighlighted. Perhaps this is the issue?

This may or may not impact my tax return but I am truly uncomfortable that it is identified in the file.

If worst comes to worst, you can clear and start over. Clear your cache and cookies before restarting.

As long as you haven't submitted payment, deducted the TurboTax fee from your refund, or registered, you can erase your return and start from scratch in TurboTax Online.

  1. Sign in and select a topic to continue your return.
  2. On the next screen, from the left-side menu, select Tax Tools, and then Clear & Start Over (select the menu icon in the upper-left corner if you don't see this menu).
  1. Answer Yes in the pop-up to confirm.
