It shows I'm receiving child tax credit if $1000 per qualifying child I understood it to now be $2000 per qualifying child

That provision will begin for 2018 tax year.  For 2017, the Child Tax Credit remains at $1000/child, to go along with each child's exemption of $4050.  (The expanded Child Tax Credit will cover the child's exemption, which will be eliminated, and include potentially extra money as well).  Here is a website explaining all of the new tax provisions for 2018:  Summary of Tax Act Provisions
