It says a standard deduction of $6,350 is recommended for me but I didn't have any expenses in 2017 to have a deduction in the first place. Why do I have a deduction?

I worked out of state for one job in 2017, not sure if that is a reason why I have a tax deduction all of sudden or not?? My federal refund is said to be $466 as of now, it says it is still in progress though, so it may be subject to change??..

Your federal refund amount will go up or down as you enter new information into the program.

The standard deduction is a standard amount of money that each taxpayer is allowed to deduct from his or her taxable income. It's a free deduction and the amount you get depends on your filing status

You got $6,350 because your filing status is single. Please view the TurboTax FAQ below for more information about the standard deduction. https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/4208574
