Is TT calculating the mortgage interest correctly? I added 10k mortgage interest, the Fed Tax didn't move at all, and CA State tax moved only 1k, it looks very far off.

Do you have additional deductions in addition to the Mortgage Interest?  You may not have qualified for Itemized Deductions.

 

For single taxpayers and married filing separately, the standard deduction rises to $12,550.  

For married couples filing jointly for the tax year, 2021 rises to $25,100.  

For heads of households, the standard deduction will be $18,800.
