Is there a glitch in the TurboTax program where real estate purchases and sales do not show on the actual return even though you answered the questions that were asked?

No, it is not a glitch.  Real estate transactions  as a specific item do not show up on your Form 1040.  They will be included on the schedules and worksheets that are part of the pdf of your tax return.  But right now you cannot get to those worksheets.  The system is in transition from 2018 to 2019.  Sometime in December when the change is complete you will be able to view/print all of those worksheets if you want to.
