Is anyone getting a glitch in the software that is asking for the amount of advance payments received related to Schedule 8812 (child tax credit). Doesn't apply to us.

I cant get past this screen.  If I enter zero, it wont take it.

Are you using Desktop or Online? 

 

You might want delete the 8812, 

Switch to Step-by-Step if in Desktop

then visit the interview under "Deductions & Credits" 

Scroll down to "You and Your family"

Scroll to the LAST option "Child and Other Dependent tax Credit"

Continue through the interview and select "No" for "Tell us about any advance Child Tax Credit payments" 

If you are not claiming any dependents, there should not be a Child tax Credit. 

Form 8812 may show in your list of forms, but it will not be transmitted with your return.

 

Online users can also delete the form and redo the interview. 

Click Tax Tools on the left side bar

Click Tools from the drop-down

Click Delete a form on the tool screen

 

This should be for Tax Year 2021 only because of the Advance Child Tax Credit payments that were issued in 2021.
