In early February I received a form letter 6475 reminding me to ask for my THIRD Economic Impact Payment - If I had not received it. I used Turbo Tax Deluxe which asked me to confirm that I had not been sent my third payment. I filled in the required information and the $2,800.00 was added to my refund. I just received my refund check (Minus the $2,800 amount) and a IRS form CP12 telling me I had a math error on my return. They simply removed my Stimulus amount and then claimed the discrepancy as a math error. My copy of my return which was filed electronically, contains the "Schedule 3 Work Sheet" which is required for documenting the line item on line 30 of the 1040/1040SR.
It appears, to me, that the IRS is intentionally stealing money hoping that can get away with it!!
If your refund is short $2,800 then that is because you said you did not receive the 3rd stimulus payment and the IRS has records that show you were sent the 3rd stimulus payment so they removed the $2,800 Recovery Rebate Credit that was entered on Form 1040 Line 30.

If you are Married Filing Jointly also check your spouse's tax account.

Second .I have been trying to get my "Id.Me" account set up so I could go to my IRS account and see exactly what they claim to have sent me.
The "Id.Me" app can not read the barcode on the back of my drivers license, so I am having an issuw with the set up. I have already checked all of my possible deposits, and there is no $2,800 DIRECT deposit or any record of a 3 rd stimulus payment. I always have the IRS send me a check so that I can photo copy it before deposit. NONE have arrived. That leaves theft from my mail box or the IRS is keeping my money!!
