im working for InstantCart. I would like to use MileIQ to track my miles. If i purchase the subscription can i use the subscription payment to claim as a deduction/expense? (I guess InstantCart is considered self-emplyed)
Yes, that would be a cost of doing business.
If you are new to being self employed, are not incorporated or in a partnership and are acting as your own bookkeeper and tax preparer you need to get educated ....
If you have net self employment income of $400 or more you have to file a schedule C in your personal 1040 return for self employment business income. You may get a 1099-Misc for some of your income but you need to report all your income. So you need to keep your own good records. Here is some reading material……

Thank you so much for that information. One more question, InstaCart shows earnings and tips separately, when putting the amount in Box C, am i only putting "earnings" or "earnings and tips" together?
ALL income from ALL sources must be reported ... add them together.
I apologize, another question. i work part time at Family Dollar. when taxes are filed my husband and I file together including his employment(s). For InstaCart do i file separately or can it be done with the regular yearly filing as well?
