If we received 1/2 of the CTC, Should the remaining Child Tax Credit amount be showing up in my total refund amount before I file?

It should show as a credit. 

It may or may not be a refund. 

If the credit is used to offset tax due, there would be nothing left as a refund. 

 

Look at your 1040 lines 19 and 28. That is where the remaining child tax credits would be reported. 

 

Online 

Select Tax Tools then Tools on the left side-bar

Select "View Tax Summary" from the TOOLS SCREEN

Select "Preview 1040" which now appears on the left side-bar
