If the mileage using your own car volunteering is deductible, what if you get a ticket because your meter ran out at a volunteering event that ran longer than scheduled?

I volunteer for an animal shelter for mobile adoption events. For the volunteering event location the only places to park were on the street where all the spaces are metered. I wasn’t able to add money to the meter because I had to hold one of the animals in my arms because she is a senior dog and the event was putting her in an overwhelming state. And as I was holding her the others working the event were going through the adoption paperwork with the animals new owners. So it’s not like someone could help add money to my meter for me.

Sorry, fines and tickets for a parking infraction are not deductible on a tax return.

The parking fee is deductible, actually, if you have to pay for parking when providing service to a charity, but the fine for letting it run out is not.
