If I was in a halfway house will This effect my return?

I was released from prison to a halfway house on June 23rd and worked all the way through to December 15. I wanted to know if this would effect my return because the only income I earned this year was while I was in a halfway house

The only way it may affect your return is the fact that income received while in a halfway house, while incarcarated or in a work release program will not qualify as earned income for the Earned Income Tax Credit.

Otherwise, you may file as usual.

If u worked and have a w-2 from ur employer being in halfway shouldn't affect it I woulnt think.. It's a place of residency.. U paid ur way in ther right? Btw.. Welcome to recovery.. New chances, new life, new everything!

Did you get your refund? I just got out also. Just wondering.

It should not effect your return meaning it should not effect when you get your refund. The income you earned while being in the halfway house should be reported as earned income along with all the remaining tax documents you have on your return, and either you will receive a refund or owe additional taxes.
