Is it listed on your Form 1098?

Yes, whether it was paid through escrow or you went to the tax office and paid it yourself, you are able to claim that as a deduction along with your mortgage interest. Usually, these amounts are included on your Form 1098, but if your property taxes are not included there are a few things you could do.

1.) Contact your lender for exact amounts paid in 2018

2.) Refer to your escrow statement for property tax amounts that were paid in 2018. The escrow statement should show which taxes and the date they were each paid.

School taxes may be able to be included as well if they are assessed based off of property values. The deduction for PMI (mortgage insurance premiums) unfortunately has expired and was not renewed by Congress for the 2018 tax year.
