If I moved into a new home in Oct, is it my primary home? And my old home is my secondary home even though I lived in it for 9.5 months last year? (I still own both) TIA

Yes, your primary home would be the one you are currently living in.  You would only look at the time spent if you had two homes at the same time, then the one you lived in more would matter.
