If I didn't take the standard mileage deduction in 2019 or deduct my actual mileage expenses, but I'm deducting miles for 2020, what do I do?

TurboTax asks "Did you take the standard mileage deduction in 2019 for [my vehicle]?" and the options are "Yes, I took the standard mileage deduction in 2019" and "No, I deducted my actual expenses in 2019," but I didn't do either of those things.

The mistake you made was saying you used the vehicle for business last year when you did not report using it ... so just choose yes to standard deduction and enter zero miles if asked ... then continue forward.  OR  back up and undo your error.

DID you use the vehicle for business in 2019 (even if you did not claim a deduction for it)?

If so, you need to say you used the Actual Expenses because you are no longer allowed to use the Standard Mileage Rate.

If you did NOT use it for business in 20191, then as Critter said, you need to go back and correct the year that you said the vehicle was "placed in service".
