If I claim my 22 year old daughter as a dependent will it negatively impact her Medicaid eligibility?

Hello,

For 2021, my 22 year old daughter was a full time student and lives with me. She has Medicaid as her own "household." She did not have a job in 2021. We reside in Colorado, which I believe has "expanded" Medicaid. I worked & then received unemployment due to pandemic.

My question:

1. If I claim her as a dependent for 2021, will she lose her medicaid eligibility?

I'm really struggling with this, I've read through other similar posts however there is conflicting information. I won't claim her as a dependent if it prevents her from qualifying for Medicaid. But, due to covid, times are hard, the additional tax break would help.

Please advise.

Please reply at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.

This is not an income tax question  ... reach out to Medicare and see what their rules are on this subject.

Any support you provide her can impact her Medicaid eligibility, whether you claim her or not.
