If I choose to take a standard deduction for my federal return, can I take an itemized deduction on my pa return?

I may want to take different deductions on my federal from my state.  I know different states allow this while others don't.  I live in PA

The only deductions that PA allows are:

1. Contributions to a 529 Education Savings Plan

2. Unreimbursed Business Expenses

3. PA Tax Forgiveness.

As SweetieJean mentioned, are you talking about business expenses? Business expenses you would take on both federal and state returns and they have nothing to do with the standard deduction.  Common federal deductions such as property taxes, charitable giving, mortgage interest are not allowed on a PA state income tax return.

PA has virtually no deductions.  Or are you talking about business expenses?  You are required to claim all of them.
