If I am a "Volunteer Assistant Baseball Coach" at a University, and I do not get paid for the position, can I claim mileage or other expenditures as exemptions?

Yes, you can, providing the University qualifies as a charity. You can deduct your out-of-pocket expenses and the miles driven as charitable donations (the rate is 14 cents/ mile)
