I worked as a Personal Delivery Driver for UPS, I needed tires, repairs, a GPS unit to do this, do I get a tax write off for those?

Are you an independent contractor receiving form 1099-NEC or an employee receiving a W-2?

Well, that's just it, I don't know, but I paid turbotax extra so that I could talk to an expert last year, Turbotax should know because they did my taxes last year...Their support was supposed to last a whole year, but...hmm, not getting that support, so I asked here.

Did you work for UPS in 2020 on your 2020 return?   What did you get last time?  Do you have a Schedule C in your 2020 return?   That would be for 1099 self employment income.

UPS has until Jan 31 to mail you either a W2 or 1099NEC.   Wait and see or ask UPS what you will get.

Turbo Tax won't know what kind of tax form you will get for 2021.  It might change from 2020.

I'll look, but I think I only received the "paperless" form.  I'm not sure where to look for that!  Lol!

Let me ask you this......did they take any taxes out of your pay?   That usually means you are an employee and get a W2.  Look at your 2020 return.  Did your pay show up on 1040 line 1 or 8?

Line 8 comes from Schedule 1 line 3.   Do you have Schedule 1?
