I work at a university that has a childcare center. We still pay for it, and it costs similar to other local centers. What should I select for the onsite care question?

The center is for university employees, students, and alumni.

If you are inquiring whether you should answer the question "Did XXYOUR EMPLOYER NAMEXX" provide on-site care?" you would answer "Yes" if your employer provided childcare onsite.

Whether or not you choose to use the employer's onsite childcare will not  affect your Child Care Credit. How you pay for your child care does affect it.

The question is asked to determine whether you have to pay income tax on the amount reported in Box 10 of your Form W-2.

The question is asked right after you enter your Form W-2. To revisit that section in TurboTax you can

  1. Click "Search" at the top right of your screen
  2. In the search box, type "W-2"
  3. Click on "Jump to W-2"
  4. Select your W-2 that reports an amount in Box 10
  5. Review your screens about your onsite care

To review your TurboTax screens regarding your child care expenses, you can do the following:

  1. Click "Search" at the top right of your screen
  2. In the search box, type "childcare""
  3. Click on "Jump to childcare"
  4. Review your screens about your child care

Your screens will look something like this:
