I was told that form 8889 is not supported in the Free Edition, but I entered HSA info in box 12 and I see form 8889 in my prepared return, so is it supported or not?

No, Form 8889 is not supported by the free edition.  You will have to upgrade to the Deluxe edition to file.

Then why do I see form 8889 in my prepared return? I am all the way at the last step and form 8889 is included.

Did you withdraw the funds to pay for any qualified medical expenses or claim HSA deductions  ?  If you are required to file the form to get tax benefit, you would need to upgrade.

I did not use funds from my HSA at all in 2018 and the only contributions were from my employer which is indicated in box 12 on my W-2.

If you did not withdraw any funds from the HSA or make any contribution, you are not entitled to any benefits.  However, since your employer makes a contribution and report on the W-2, the Form 8889 is required to reflect that even though it does not create any impact on your taxes.  You would still need to file the form to show IRS, unfortunately.

I understand that, but what I am saying is that I am using the Free Edition and I am at the very last step where all I need to do is e-sign and file and Form 8889 is filled out and included in my return when I view the documents. Are you saying that when I click to file I will get some kind of error because I am using the Free Edition?

Thanks for clarifying.  I thought you meant the program prompts you to upgrade.  So.. if you continue to file, and it gets through, you are good.  You do not need to upgrade.

So since I see Form 8889 included in my return then I should not have any issue filing and Form 8889 will be filed along with my W-2, correct?

That's correct.
