I think I made an error on my property tax but the program is not letting me edit my response. Can anyone help?

I entered the total amount of property tax I paid in 2021 on my home but then also entered it in the Rentals and Royalty section because I rent part of my home and now I cannot go back and correct the amount entered under wages and income.  The program is adding these two amounts so it looks like I paid more property tax than I did. When I try to edit my original entry, the program does not give me the option to do is, it just tells me I already entered the information.  Can anyone help?

If you entered it in the Sch E section then you need to delete the duplicate entry in the Sch A section ... look under deductions & credits in the YOUR HOME area  for the RE taxes section.  Read that screen carefully ... it told you not to enter it again ...

Critter-3,

Thank you for the response. I entered it correctly in the schedule E but under the Deductions  & Credits section under Wages & Income, I must have originally entered the full amount of my property tax and now I am unable to edit it there so, instead of part of my property tax being in  the schedule E (that figure is accurate) and the remainder in my deductions, the full amount is in the deduction section, plus the partial amount is in the Schedule E. That is what I can’t fix. When I try to edit the deductions and credits section it shows me the amount paid, indicating that it is “already included, “ but I cannot edit it there.
