To edit your real estate property tax information, follow these steps:

  1. Sign into your return, and select "take me to my return"
  2. On the left select "Federal", then "Deductions & Credits"
  3. Since you have already entered some taxes, you should see "Mortgage Interest, Refinancing, and Insurance (Form 1098)" (See Attachment)
  4. Select "Edit/Add", then "Edit" beside your mortgage company to continue back through the interview and change the number you entered for your reals estate property taxes

?? I can see the wrong number I entered, I just can't change it.  When I click update, it still only shows the number but does not let me update

There are two places to enter property tax. There is a box on the Form 1098 for property tax and there is a section to enter just the property tax.

To go to the Property tax entry:

While signed in and working in TurboTax Online,

  • Click on Federal in the black left-hand menu.
  • Click on Deductions and Credits
  • Scroll down and click on Show More under Your Home.
  • Choose Start or Revisit under Property (Real Estate) Taxes.

To go to the Form 1098, Mortgage Interest, section:

While signed in and working in TurboTax Online,

  • Click on Federal in the black left-hand menu.
  • Click on Deductions and Credits
  • Scroll down and click on Show More under Your Home.
  • Choose Start or Revisit under Mortgage Interest and Refinancing.

The property tax I entered is incorrect.  When I try to edit it, it says I’m maxed out of Federal deductions but the amount I need to enter is about $300 but amount in TurboTax is $20,975.

how do i make the correction?

Are you saying that when you go into Deductions for Your Home, that when you open Your Home and scroll down to Property Taxes, that when you try to enter property taxes, that instead of an empty field, you see $20,975? What is the correct amount? $300? I am afraid that I don't understand what you are saying.

P.S., When you make a post, please make it a new post, and not add it onto an existing thread; otherwise, it's hard to tell what from the old thread - if anything - relates to you.
