I paid taxes on foreign income, but the software isn't letting me enter that anywhere. Please help.

Other entries say there will be a question "Did you pay taxes on the foreign income?" but it doesn't show up.

After you have entered the income into TurboTax in the appropriate area for the type of income, follow these steps to enter the taxes paid on the income:

 

Then to enter the taxes paid follow these steps:

  1. Click on Deductions & Credits (either in the center of the program or across the top)
  2. Click on Show more beside Estimates and other Taxes Paid
  3. Click on Start beside Foreign Taxes.
  4. Follow the prompts being sure to answer Yes to the question about entering the income.
  5. Be sure to enter the same income amount in this section - here the income amount is just used in the credit computation but does not get entered as income on your actual tax return.
  6. Note that your taxes paid on your foreign wages are General Category Income and taxes paid on things such as dividends would be considered Passive Category Income
