I paid a lawyer to reassess our property values and lower property taxes, can I deduct his fee? If so, where?

Yes, you can deduct the attorney fees related to the tax grievance on your property taxes.

The IRS definition is that "You can usually deduct legal expenses that you incur in attempting to produce or collect taxable income or that you pay in connection with the determination, collection, or refund of any tax."

In TurboTax, please do the following:

  • Click Federal Taxes
  • Click Deductions & Credits
  • Other Deductions and Credits, Click Show more
  • Legal Fees, click Start
