I need to talk to a human...do you have live help chats, like other sites? I cannot find the answer to my question here...only parts.

We switched from a person (2018) to turbotax last year (2019), due to changes in employment, etc.

Now that I'm almost finished with this year (2020), my husband told me that he had been doing a capital loss carryover every year.

So, he has our copies of the 2018 one, we skipped last year...

Can I create a Schedule D, 8949 for this year, based on that?

You can just enter the carryover. However, you can't just skip years. If you did not take it in 2019, you will have to amend and include it. At that point, if there is anything left, you can use it in 2020.

To enter,

just open your TurboTax return, search for capital loss carryover, and then click the "Jump to" link in the search results.

We'll take you to the screen where you can enter that info from your prior year return.
