I moved my sales business from one location to another. Can I deduct moving expenses for this business?

Yes you can, since business moving expenses were not affected by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

  • The cost of moving business equipment, supplies, and inventory from one business location to another is a deductible business expense, as are costs associated with the purchase or renting of a new location. Be sure to keep good records to substantiate all costs associated with this business move.

See What self-employed expenses can I deduct? and Where do I enter my self-employment business expenses, like home office, vehicle mileage, and supplies?

For individuals, the moving expense deduction is no longer available in tax years 2018 – 2025 due to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) that Congress signed into law on December 22, 2017.
