I'm taking standard deduction, but you are making me complete form 5695, residential energy credits. Is this a bug?

These are two different items on your return.

Residential Energy Credits are used to offset any tax liability dollar for dollar.  For example, if you owe $500 in tax, but you have a credit of $400, your tax due will be reduced to $100 ($500-$400).

The standard deduction is used as a deduction to reduce your taxable income.  Your taxable income is used to calculate your total tax liability based upon your tax rate.

There is DEFINITELY a BUG with this program.
I DO NOT have a Home Energy Credit....I clicked NO.  The program is selecting YES.

It asked if I want to remove FORM 5695....I said YES....it doesn't.
and the Home Energy Credit remains.

I've already had an Audit because of Turbo Tax BUGS...so fix this.

I do not have a Home Energy Credit...I want it REMOVED.

First thing to try is sign out of your TurbTax account and sign back in to refresh the links.  Next follow these steps.

1.  Click "Tax Tools" in left hand menu

2.  Click "Tools"

3.  Click "Delete a form" in middle of screen

4.  Search for form 5695

5.  If it is still there, delete it

I'm running into this same problem, definitely seems like a bug in the logic.  Can't figure out how to get rid of it.

No, this is not an issue.  Residential Energy Credits are a credit to offset the tax you owe.  They are not part of your standard deductions.  If you have Residential Energy Credits you can take, then if you take the standard or itemized deductions.
