I'm not sure where to find my property tax

It is not located on my 1098, but i did receive a bill for the 2016 Winter taxes. I bought the house back in June and did not get anything for my Summer Taxes as I believe they were included with the purchase. Would I have to include those as well? I did not receive any additional paperwork from my mortgage lender.

Please look at your closing document if Form 1098 doesn't list your property tax; it may be listed there as part of your purchase. Are you able to contact your closing company or lender if you don't have your closing HUD document?

You can claim property tax paid in 2016. If you haven't paid your Winter tax bill in 2016, you can't deduct it until it's actually paid.
