I used tracked postage - USPS says "authorized recipient not available" - Is IRS Austin, TX accepting mail? What can I do to get taxes to that location?
What was the exact address that you sent it to? It is hard to imagine no one in Austin ready and able to take tax money...
Thanks for replying! My issue is now actually resolved - USPS confirmed that my taxes did indeed arrive. The delay in tracking info was because it's a PO box and the IRS collect letters in batches. The address is "Department of Treasure, Internal Revenue Service, Austin, TX [social security number removed]" and I didn't owe any payment, for reference. Thanks so much for getting back to me though - I do appreciate the offer to help!

Thanks, this is good to know. Yes, the IRS has been struggling to keep up because of the pandemic and not having a full workforce in the office...Actually, USPS is having the same issue. I sent a birthday card to my brother in Austin in March (200 miles away), and it took two weeks to go the 200 miles.
