I live abroad and I'm self-employed. I fly in for a temp job and fly back when done. Can I deduct international travel as a business expense. I have US W-2 address.

I am a locum physician. I live abroad. I flew in for jobs lasting a total of approx 140 days into California in spurts of less than 2 weeks. I have to use my friend's US address for W-2, but I dont live there. I gave my residential address in my 2015 return as the foreign address where I live with my kids permanently (they are in school there since more than 2 years.) My travel for the jobs is expensive but necessary. Can the international travel expenses be deducted.

Yes, you can deduct ordinary and necessary business travel expenses on Schedule C, whether international or not.

You will need to use the TurboTax Self-Employed version of the program in order to deduct self-employed business expenses.

Attached is a sample of the business expense interview screen.
