I left the answers blank in my "Medical Expenses" section on "Deductions & Credits," only for it to give me an amount under "tax breaks" for 2024. What does this mean?

I went through "Medical Expenses" on the "Deductions & Credits" page just to make sure that nothing applies to my situation. I simply left the answers blank (after initially writing "$0.00" but then gave up after a while; I went back and erased all my input) and now it shows that my tax break for 2024 is $3,110.00. What does this mean? Is that number correct, or is it a system error?

If you'd like, we can look at your return and see exactly what you see to  help come to a resolution. The return will be scrubbed and won't include any of your personal details.

If you're using TurboTax Online:

Once you're logged in to your account,

- on the left hand panel, click on Tax Tools and then choose Tools

- on the pop up window, select Share my file with Agent

- you'll see a message saying you'll give us a copy of your tax return. Your personal information will be changed so we can't see any private information.

- click okay and you'll get another message with a token

Please reply to this message with your token so that we can further assist you. Let us know what state is included in your return.

Token Number: 1272467

State of filing:  Alabama

I spoke with someone this past Thursday, and the workers believe that the question is resolved; but I would rather double-check just to be safe.  Thank you!

Thank you for providing the token.

The amount that's showing up as medical expenses is your net out of pocket health insurance premiums paid, including any potential premium tax credit repayment.
