I hired a general contractor to build a new home. I reimbursed him for expenses he incurred and paid sales tax on. Can I include the sales tax in my itemized deductions?

Yes, you can deduct your sales tax in the deductions and credits section. (I'm assuming you are not in a business of construction... just built your home).

  1. Federal Taxes
  2. Deductions and Credits
  3. Scroll down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid, select Sales Tax
