I have shared custody. This year I claim both kids but did not receive payments for 1 child from the first two stimulis. The recovery rebate did not recover missing pmts

My ex and I share custody. This year I claim both kids but did not receive a stimulis for 1 of my dependents for the first two payments. When I filed my taxes the recovery rebate did not recover those two payments but I did receive the full check for the 3rd pmt. Should I have received money from the first two stimulis payments for both dependent children since I only received money for one? Do I need to file an amended return in order to receive it? turbo tax does not recognize that i am claiming both kids this year when calculating my recovery payment?

Yes, you should receive the Recovery rebate credit for both of your children if you claim them as dependents on your 2020 tax return.

However, you do not have to file an amended return as the IRS will be adjusting your refund for the Recovery rebate credit that you did not claim on your return.

Did one of them turn 17 in 2019 or 2020?
