One 1099-DIV only.  No problem with that.  Cannot enter tax credit for my Canadian pension (Canada form NR4).

Have you completed the f1116 for the 1099-div and need to enter the credit into f1116?

I do not enter data directly to form 1116.  I use the step by step method in Turbotax to enter data for the foreign tax credit.  No problem entering ric credit.  However, there is no way possible to enter the foreign tax credit data for Canada using the step by step method as I did for the ric.

Have you already completed  the interview for the 1099?

yes for the 1099.   The Canadian form for reporting retirement income and taxes withheld is Canadian form NR4. That's the data that I cannot enter.  I have no problem with the RIC and that part is done.

What category of income are going to use for the pension, passive or general?

Passive.  I have used Turbotax for many years and never encountered this problem before.

Yes, yes, yes!  It looks like that finally did it. Form 1116 for 20017 and 2018 look the same except that numerical values are somewhat different as expected.  Thanks!
