I have expenses as an adjunct professor for which I received a W-2. I am not sure if the "self employed" package is necessary for me to deduct expenses and home office.

You could most likely use just the Deluxe package.

Those "job-related" expenses would be listed under your Schedule A, Itemized Deductions and on Form 2106 (both of which TurboTax deluxe handles).
