I have a 1099 NEC form for Doordash delivery. After inputting 1099 NEC form, I can see the Schedule C form, but I cannot figure out how to claim the standard mileage deduction. Can you tell me how to do it and which form I should use? Thanks!

Your business mileage expenses will be entered on your Schedule C as well.  To enter your business expenses please follow these steps:

  1. Within your tax return type Schedule C in the Search box
  2. Select the Jump to link
  3. Answer Yes to Did you have any self-employment income or expenses? ? and answer the questions until you get the First, select the expenses you know you had screen
    • If you've already worked in this section, select Edit or Review next to your business
  4. Select your expenses, then Continue
  5. Then select Start or Edit or Add expenses for this work
  6. Select Start next to an expense type that you had, in your case Vehicle
  7. Enter your car information and answer the other questions we ask
  8. Enter your mileage on the How do you want to enter your mileage for this xx screen and either enter your mileage or your odometer readings
    • Be sure you have your mileage broken down to January - June miles and July - December miles because the allowable rate changed during the year!
  9. If you have additional expenses of other types, repeat steps 4 through 7 to add more

Also, see What self-employed expenses can I deduct? for additional allowable expenses to report.
