I had a Dependent Care Reimbursement Account (DCRA) in 2017 and contributed $3600 pre-tax for the year. How can I enter the incurred 2017 expenses in TurboTax?

Previous answers point to the step-by-step procedure for the child and dependent care credit. However, I need to enter dependent care expenses to offset the DCRA pre-tax contributions. I am not applying for the credit.

You will use the same step-by-step procedure for the Child and Dependent Care Credit even though you aren't applying or qualify for it.  Your DCRA deferral amount ($3,600) and Child Care Expenses are reported on Form 2441, Child and Dependent Care Expenses.

Your DCRA deferral amount will automatically be pulled from your W2 so you do not need to re-enter it.  The place to enter the Child Care Expenses you paid will be under the Deductions & Credits tab.

Thanks for the quick response! To clarify. Are you saying I can use the step-by-step procedure under "Deductions & Credits => You and Your family" to enter the child care expenses? I tried but TurboTax thinks I am trying to qualify for the child care credit . I am not even getting to the point where I can enter the expenses. I tried directly oin Form 2441. But this is a nightmare I hoped TurboTax would spare me from. Appreciate your input
