I donated a burial plot and concrete liner that I inherited to a charity. Is that deductible?

I owned a burial plot and concrete in Florida that I inherited from my parents. My mother is buried in Maryland, so I wanted to donate the plot to the Jewish Federation of Miami.  Is that deductible?

Yes, this is a charity donation. You will need a letter from the Jewish Federation of Miami with the date and value. Since the value is likely over $500, you will need Form 8283, but TurboTax will walk you through every step.

Is the value of the donation based on the purchase price from 1979 or the current value?

You will include both your cost (which is when you inherited it, not the purchase price in 1979) and the current value

I have a family burial plot of 8 graves that I want to donate to the Hebrew free burial association.

It cost me 3500 dollars and has a market value today of about 30,000 dollars. Can I deduct the full amount in one year from my Taxes Or what is the procedure.

Yes, you can generally deduct the full amount in the same year that you made the contribution.

The donation is entered in the Charitable Contributions of the Itemized Deductions for Schedule A.

You will use the date of purchase, the date of the contribution, the purchase price, and the FMV (fair market value) at the time of the donation to enter the donation. You will need to have a letter from the Hebrew free burial association with the date and value of the donation. Keep the letter with your records. This is entered on form 8283. TurboTax will ask you questions to record the donation correctly.
