I didnt receive a 1098 for my home equity can I still put it on my taxes?

No. If it's not on a 1098-Mortgage Interest Statement, you can't claim it. Your bank may not have sent it yet, or maybe you elected for online delivery. If you have an online account with the bank, log in and check for a link to tax reporting documents or something of that nature.

Also, sometimes a lender will not send you an 'actual" form 1098. Instead, they will send you a letter or something similar with the information on it you need. Such a document must clearly state something to the effect of "in lieu of a 1098" in order for it to be "valid" for the IRS. So check any recent documents you may have received with your Jan or Feb bank statement in the mail.
