I Contributed $ 7300 to HSA as a pre Tax deduction coded as W for Box 12 on the W2. I type it on Turbo tax but it does not lower my Federal nor state income tax. Why?

You need to answer the questions regarding the HDHP (High Deductible Health Plan). If you're contributing to an HSA, you should be enrolled in an HDHP.

  1. Go to Federal Taxes.
  2. Select Deductions and Credits
  3. Scroll down to the Medical
  4. Click on 1099-SA, HSA, MSA
  5. Select HSA
  6. Continue until you arrive at the screen  "Were you covered by a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) in 2022?
  7. You respond yes and continue to update.
